Sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing, weakness of the face or arm, slurred speech, loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding and a severe allergic reaction need the emergency department. Mild complaints lasting days, repeat prescriptions and planned check-ups belong with a clinic or family doctor.
How do I recognise a stroke?
A drooping face on one side, an arm that cannot be raised, slurred speech or difficulty understanding — if any of these appears suddenly, call 103 (in Azerbaijan) immediately. The first 4.5 hours determine how well stroke treatment works; do not lose time.
Is chest pain always a heart attack?
No — chest pain can also come from muscles, the stomach or anxiety. But a pressing pain lasting more than 15 minutes, spreading to the arm, jaw or back and accompanied by sweating and nausea is a suspected heart attack and needs emergency care. An ECG and blood test tell them apart.
